The plan is working.

LET'S FORKIN GO

by Tim Forkin

Happy Monday.

Let's FORKIN Go.

I always say comments are the most important metric. So when Friday's vlog started to take off yesterday, I was really hoping the comments would follow.

They have. In force.

Here's some of the comments I woke up to this morning.

Yesterday morning, the video had 63 views. As of writing, it's got 656 and not showing any signs of slowing down yet.

But that number wouldn't mean anything without the comments.

I'm finding it to be incredibly rewarding to document my journey, even in these early stages here. I had no clue what I was doing last week — I just wanted to vlog a week in my life and share how I was feeling. To see other people enjoying it, after a year of not really getting any feedback on my content (if I'm being honest), feels super good.

Also last week, I published a clip from the HeyCreator community where I got to ask Darrell Vesterfelt, our founder, about this constant feeling like I should be doing more. His answer was incredible and I couldn't help but share it.

The comments I got — both from other video editors all the way through my mom's coworkers — let me know that this deep stuff is what people want to see more of.

Other notes:

  • I'm up $2,733 gross revenue since the last time I ran the numbers, $47,195 total in 2024. Next year, I'll be much more transparent and specific about where these numbers are coming from — and I'll set a lofty (to me) goal to chase for 2025.
  • Finally found a signature thumbnail art style, something that feels very unique to me. I think the art on Friday's vlog is my best ever.
  • I'm using copyrighted music in my videos, at least up until I get monetized (but potentially after, too). There's just something special about using the songs I love in my art. In an ideal world, I'd outpace my YouTube view earnings with business earnings anyway, so why not make the best videos I can and use real music?
  • Reply to this email. This week's vlog is about where content is going for creative/entrepreneur types. I have my theories, but I want to hear yours as well — I'll throw them in the video.

Thanks for being here!

Tim
